Franciacorta
Franciacorta is a sparkling wine DOCG . The name Franciacorta comes from the history of Corti Franche and when, after the arrival of the monks of Cluny , the territory enjoyed the free trade ( curtes francae ) . The " Franzacurta " name appeared for the first time in the annals of the City of Brescia in 1277, to identify the area between the rivers Oglio and Mella , at the southern end of Lake Iseo . The area , where it is possible to cultivate vineyards and produce Franciacorta , includes the territories of 19 municipalities within the province of Brescia . It is produced with Chardonnay and / or Pinot Noir and / or Pinot bianco ( up to a maximum of 50 % of the blend ) and depending on the type of grapes used , the specification of Franciacorta DOCG includes three sparkling versions.
