Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi
Verdicchio has had a long history in the Marche region of central Italy with documents noting its presence there since at least the 14th century. The name Verdicchio derives from verde (or "green") and refers to the slight green/yellow hue that wines made from the grape can have. Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi is a wine with Controlled Denomination of Origin (DOC) produced in the provinces of Macerata and Ancona, has a straw yellow color, a delicate, distinctive aroma and a dry, harmonious, with a pleasantly bitter aftertaste. It pairs well mainly with fish dishes, but also with pasta, risotto, fish soup, grilled fish. Accompanies also white meats, in particular rabbit.
