Prosecco
Prosecco DOC is a white wine produced in the Veneto and Friuli-Venezia-Giulia and it takes its name from the Castello di Prosecco, by the homonymous village where the production of this wine began.
Prosecco is produced in the provinces of Veneto, excluding Rovigo and Verona (about 80% of the total), and in all the provinces of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia (about 20% of the total).
Within this area there are also two DOCG wines: the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene Prosecco and Colli-Asolani Prosecco.
The main grape used for the production of Prosecco is Glera (85% of the total).
A small percentage, not exceeding 15% of the total, may consists of v verdiso, bianchetta trevigiana, perera, glera lunga, chardonnay, pinot bianco, pinot grigio e pinot nero vinified in white.
There are essentially three types of Prosecco: the proper Prosecco (10,50% vol.), The
Prosecco spumante(minimum 11,00% vol.) and the sparkling Prosecco (minimum of 9% vol.)
