Wine: Italy is the World Leader
Italy in 2016 is firmly in command of world wine production with 48,8 million hectolitres followed by France with 41,9 million hectolitres and Spain with 37,8 million hectolitres.
The wine production has registered in any case an overall reduction with a -5% for a total of 259,4 million hectolitres: -2% for Italy, -12% for France and +1% for Spain, the three main producers as already said. This is one of the lowest level reached in wine making since 2000 according to the previsions made by the the IOV, the International Organisation of Vine and Wine.
