Ice Lolly
The ice lolly is a popular ice cream, consisting of water mixed with sugar or with a sweet aromatic syrup, made freeze around a wooden stick. The invention of the ice lolly back to the early twentieth century, by Frank Epperson, an eleven year old child from Oakland, who on a cold winter night had inadvertently left on the sill of a window a glass of water and soda with a stick that he used to mix them. The next day, Frank was able to rid the block of ice formed by running warm water over the glass, and began to eat the first "icicle" using the stick as a handle. In 1923, Epperson obtained a patent for the idea of "ice on the stick", and baptized the popsicle invention. In Italy icicles came after World War II imported by the Americans.
