Founded by Ben Silbermann, Paul Sciarra and Evan Sharp in 2010, Pinterest is a web-based pinboard or bulletin board, in which people can choose and save images ("pin") they found on the web (or on Pinterest itself) to different boards (used to categorize their image collections). Many of the images saved on Pinterest can be clickeable and can be opened up on the original Web page where they were found. Pinterest is also a social network, because users can interact with each other through likes, comments, re-saves of each other’s contents and private messages. Recently, food trends are constantly increasing on this platform, especially for users searching for vegan, gluten- and dairy-free recipes. Indeed, Pinterest is a very popular tool for foodbloggers to post their recipes, that can be easily saved by users on their categorized boards. Currently, there are more than 15 billion of recipes on Pinterest, recently food content seems to be increased more than 20%, especially search on Monday dinner recipes. According to surveys, in 2017 the platform has reached 200 million monthly active users.
