The first packaged ice cream appeared in 1948, thanks to an idea of ??Angelo Motta, whose firm has represented the emblem of confectionery industry during the early '900. At the end of World War II, Angelo Motta creates a revolutionary product: a wooden stick covered with custard flavoured ice cream. Actually, the idea is borrowed from Harry Burt, an American manufacturer of candies who in 1920 decided to create a chocolate ice cream supported by the stick of a lollipop. Some craft companies in Italy tried to market the ice cream with the American stick, but with little success. Only in 1948 the first industrialized ice cream was invented, the Mottarello. Thanks to the widespread distribution mediated by Motta, now confectionery giant, the Mottarello quickly conquer the Italian market. The Mottarello is just the first of a long series, the series of all subsequent packaged ice cream, their strange shapes and their unforgettable names. The Mottarello opens the way for the long series of childhood summer memories of everyone.
