DAWN’S BELLS AND DUSK’S DRUMS
Galleria Continua, Beijing
02 April 2026
On April 2, 2026, a solo exhibition titled "DAWN’S BELLS AND DUSK’S DRUMS" by Chinese artist Ni Youyu was presented in Beijing. This is the first exhibition collaboration between Ni Youyu and Galleria Continua, and it is also his first solo exhibition in Beijing. This exhibition will follow the thread of time, retracing and organizing the artist's continuous creative trajectory over the past decade. Through works spanning different stages and mediums, it systematically constructs an internal logic that runs through his artistic practice.
Ni Youyu's creations always straddle the boundary between concepts and techniques. He is skilled at drawing nourishment from the histories of Eastern and Western art as well as different cultural contexts. He combines the time marks carried by ancient materials with the contemporary thinking in these different cultural settings. Under the repetitive and concentrated creative mode, he constructs his own artistic world. The exhibition is titled "DAWN’S BELLS AND DUSK’S DRUMS", derived from the cyclical meaning of the Zen Buddhist daily routine. It not only points to the time order from morning to night, but also metaphorically represents a repetitive and continuous creative state.
The Italian Ambassador to China MASSIMO AMBROSETTI has arrived and has joined forces with artist Ni Youyu to explore the artistic charm and exchange creative ideas. Through art as a bridge, they aim to promote the cultural integration between China and Italy.
